Utah summers are bright, dry and high. At altitude, UV is stronger, and low humidity pulls water from your skin all day. A few small changes make a big difference.
Here’s the routine we recommend to clients heading into hiking, lake and patio season.
Protect first
- Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, every morning, even on cloudy days.
- Reapply every two hours outside, and right after swimming or sweating.
- Don’t forget ears, neck, chest, the backs of your hands and your lips.
- Hats and sunglasses do a lot of the work for you.
Hydrate inside and out
Layer a hyaluronic acid serum on damp skin, then seal it in with a moisturizer. Switch to a lighter gel in the morning and a richer cream at night. Run a humidifier while you sleep if your skin feels tight in the morning.
Adjust your actives
- Keep retinoids at night only, and ease off if your skin gets sensitive.
- Pull back on strong exfoliants when you’re spending long days outdoors.
- Add a vitamin C serum in the morning for extra antioxidant support.
Treatments that fit summer
HydraFacials and gentle facials are great all summer since there’s no downtime. Save more intensive treatments like IPL, deeper peels and some lasers for fall, when you’re out of the sun more.
Then plan for fall
If summer leaves you with sun spots or uneven tone, fall is the best time to correct it. We’ll build a plan once your tan has faded.
